Introduction to Translation (TSINTTRA)

Class Description
Learn the basic skills needed to translate texts, improve technique, utilize resources and address general challenges. The class covers: legal translation, business and financial translation, translation for advertisement, medical translation, and editing and proofreading public service announcements.
Fundamentals of Interpretation (TSFUNINT)

Class Description
This class introduces students to the world of community interpreting, specifically the different modes of interpreting in different settings. Course is conducted in English and Spanish.
Translation Studies I (TSTRAST1)

Class Description
This course expands on the topics covered in Introduction to Translation Studies for a more in depth look at legal, business and medical translation. The class covers news and literary translation.
Translation Studies II (TSTRAST2)

Class Description
In this course, students work on a translation project dealing with one topic and render a professional translation from English to Spanish. Topics may include music, Spanish literature, or history.
Spanish Editing (TSSPAEDI)

Class Description
Students learn the basic editing tools necessary such as editing and proofreading symbols and electronic editing to edit text in Spanish and translations.
Spanish Grammar Review (TSSPAGRA)

Class Description
This course reviews basic Spanish grammar concepts such as common parts of speech, tenses and sentence structure, and emphasizes comprehension and text analysis. This course is conducted in Spanish and enables students to have a better understanding of Spanish as a source language for translation and interpretation.

Advertising Translation (TSADVTRA)
Class Description
Designed as a workshop, this course aims to equip students to understand the creative translation process that takes place in the Advertising industry through practical, relevant, and realistic translation exercises. This course is for those who have already completed study in translation with Hunter College Continuing Education Programs or who are professionals working in the field.
