Student Awards

Student awards are given annually to our outstanding students in Russian and Slavic Studies. The awards are made possible by the generosity of Filia Holtzman whose fund has supported students and cultural programs in the Division for many years.

The Russian Club

The club sponsors lectures, regular club meetings in the Chanin Learning Center organized around various aspects of Russian and Slavic culture, and field trips to museums in New York City and beyond. In the past, the club has sponsored various Crossing Borders events, celebrated Russian Easter and Christmas and traveled to different exhibits and museums. The Polish Club

The Polish Club at Hunter College is one of the oldest such institutions at CUNY. In 2013, the Polish club celebrated its 70th anniversary at the Polish Consulate of New York. The guests included club members who participated in the club during the Second World War. The club’s events are organized around various aspects of Polish culture. Polish club members are very active at Hunter and their events are advertised on the Polish Club of Hunter College Facebook page.

Facilities

  • The Leon and Toby Cooperman Library at Hunter College (entrance on the third floor of the East Building at Hunter College)
  • The Chanin Learning Center (entrance on the second floor of the West Building at Hunter College)
  • The Chanin Club Room (B 126, entrance on the basement level)

Faculty offices are located primarily on the 13th and 14th floor of the West Building, and most Russian and Slavic courses are taught in the same building.
