Admissions

The general guidelines we've included here are provided to assist prospective students in applying for admission to Hunter's computer science program. For complete admission details, current deadlines, application forms and additional criteria, please visit Hunter's Admissions website.

Freshmen

Hunter requires you to submit an admissions application, your official high school transcript (showing a minimum of 12 academic units taken), SAT or ACT scores and a $65.00 non-refundable application fee when you apply for admission. If you have a General Equivalency Diploma (GED), your GED test scores are also required. Applications, fees and documentation should be sent to the CUNY Application Processing Center.

For application processing details, contact Admissions:
Email: admissions@hunter.cuny.edu
Phone: 212-772-4490

Freshman Candidate Criteria
Your admission will be considered based on your overall strength of academic preparation (min. 12 academic units), grades in individual subjects, overall high school average, and SAT or ACT scores. If you have a GED, your test scores may be eligible if accompanied by the required minimum of 12 high school academic units.

Transfer Student

You're required to submit a transfer application, your official transcripts from each college attended (in addition to your high school transcript) and a $70.00 non-refundable application fee when you apply for transfer to Hunter. If you have a GED, your test scores are also required. The average cumulative GPA of an admitted transfer student is 3.2.

Visit Hunter's Admissions website for more details and to speak with an admissions counselor.

Second Degree Students

If you're seeking a computer science degree in addition to a degree you've already received, the Hunter application process is the same as it is for our transfer students (briefly described above). Contact Hunter Admissions for details.

The Hunter College Computer Science Department now offers a master's degree program in computer science! For more information, please check out the Computer Science Master's Degree Program for further information!
