Profile

Dr. Sangeeta Pratap's research focuses on the macroeconomics of development. In particular, she works on understanding the relationship between the financial sector and the macroeconomy. Dr. Pratap looks at how financial crises are transmitted to the rest of the economy, the effects of financial constraints on firm entry and growth and the role of financial factors in the efficient allocation of resources. Her main areas of interest include macroeconomics, international economics and firm dynamics.

Before teaching at Hunter College, Dr. Pratap worked as an assistant professor of economics at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), a private university in Mexico City. In 2010, she became a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. She then served as a guest professor at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics in 2014, and a visiting professor at the Paris School of Economics in 2015.

As an associate professor of economics at Hunter College, Dr. Pratap teaches courses in macroeconomics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
