Profile

Dr. Toshiaki Mitsudome teaches courses including Financial Accounting, Managerial/Cost Accounting, Financial Statement Analysis and Accounting Research in the Economics Department at Hunter College. He also serves on the Personnel and Budget Committee as well as the Accounting Curriculum Committee for the department.

From 2006 through 2019, Dr. Mitsudome served as director/adviser of Hunter's master's program in accounting. During that time, enrollment in the program grew significantly and the CPA exam passing rates of Hunter graduates continue to be among the highest in the region.

As an educator, Dr. Mitsudome enjoys exploring new ideas and finding answers and solutions to problems, as well as helping his students discover new possibilities and career opportunities.

Dr. Mitsudome holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations and is an active member of the American Accounting Association (AAA) and the CFA Institute and Financial Planning Association (FPA). His interests include corporate governance, executive compensation, financial accounting and international accounting.

Through his research, Dr. Mitsudome has co-authored several journal articles including, “Timeliness and Conservatism of Taiwanese Earnings” and “Corporate Governance, Top Executive Compensation and Firm Performance in Japan.”

Dr. Mitsudome received his MBA in international business and PhD in accounting from CUNY Baruch College.
