2019 Presidential Award Winners
One of the most cited faculty in chemistry at CUNY, with seminal papers with three Nobel Laureates, Drain won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Cellist, writer and music theorist specializing in Russian music, 20th century music, rap and hiphop, Ewell won the Excellence in Creative Work Award.
Johnson's latest nonfiction book, American Eden, was a National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize finalist. She won the Excellence in Scholarship Award.
Klotz, who returned to teaching mathematics after a 25-year career on Wall Street, won the Cecile Insdorf Award for Excellence in Part-time Teaching.
Born in Romania, Smeureanu has a background in chemical education pedagogy and advising. She won the Excellence in Full-time Teaching Award.
Xie's research focuses on methods in omics data integration, machine learning and systems biology. He won the Excellence in Scholarship Award.
