Professor Janos Bergou Honored by Republic of Hungary and University of Pécs

Professor Janos Bergou, of the Physics Department, received the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, Officer’s Cross, awarded by the President of Hungary. The citation, which is the highest honor awarded to civilians in Hungary, was given to Bergou “… for his internationally recognized scholarship and for his leadership role in promoting American-Hungarian bilateral relations in science”. In a seperate ceremony last year, Professor Bergou also received the title “Doctor et Professor Honoris Causa” from the University of Pécs, Pécs, Hungary, for his research in Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, and for services to the University.
