Overview
The Undergraduate Teacher Education Pathway (UTEP) Adolescent Education programs are designed to prepare undergraduate prospective teachers to serve as high-quality educators for students in urban secondary schools. These UTEP programs lead to initial certification as a teacher in New York State. These programs include extensive and closely mentored fieldwork experiences in New York City Public schools. Teacher candidates use culturally responsive, student centered teaching methods based in research, theory, and practice to work with learners of all types. The Adolescent Education course of study is usually completed over four semesters.
