Pre-requisites: While an undergraduate major in sociology is not required for this program, there are some course requirements. Applicants to the program must have successfully completed at least three (3) credits in statistics at either the undergraduate or the graduate level. Also recommended are: three (3) credits in research methods and three (3) credits in sociological theory. Any applicants who do not meet these requirements should indicate this in their cover letter.

Requirements: Online applications may be found on the Graduate Admissions website. Applicants will need transcripts, two or three letters of recommendation from professors and/or professional supervisors, a statement of purpose about your interest in the program and how it relates to your career goals, and a cover letter that explains any extenuating circumstances (such as missing pre-requisites or a dip in GPA).

The Master’s Degree is designed to be completed in two years if attending full-time, or three years if attending half-time.

Deadlines: Applications for the fall semester are due May 1st; or November 1st of the preceding year for the spring semester. Applications for non-matriculated status are also available, and require only proof of an undergraduate degree.  The application form for Graduate Non-Matriculated Admission can be found online.

Early decision option: Students whose applications are complete by March 1 will receive an admissions decision from the program by May 1. (Notification from the college may take a little longer.)
