About

ASAP at Hunter

ASAP at Hunter College is a comprehensive support program that serves transfer students who have completed their associate degree and have fewer than 90 credits at the time of admission.* The program helps students complete their bachelor’s degrees by providing financial, academic, and personal support. Students receive personalized academic advisement, career development, assistance with textbooks and transportation, and more. Our team takes a holistic approach to advisement, building strong relationships with students to help them define and achieve their academic, personal, and career goals.

*Transfer students who have not yet earned their associate degree but meet all other eligibility criteria will be conditionally accepted to the program and will be further considered if they qualify for reverse transfer and the associates degree will be conferred by the end of the first semester.

Eligibility

  • Be a full-time student at Hunter College
  • Be a New York State resident and/or eligible for in-state tuition
  • Complete the FAFSA and the New York State TAP application
    • Students who do not receive financial aid, or who are unable to file, may still join ASAP; however, they will not be eligible to receive the tuition gap scholarship. We encourage these students to contact the program team to learn more about next steps and available resources.
  • Commit to the following graduation timeline(s):
    • Associate-degree transfer students with 90 credits or fewer: Graduate within four semesters

Note: Students cannot participate in ASAP if they are enrolled in Macaulay Honors or SEEK

Approved Majors

The primary goal of ASAP Hunter is to support students who have transferred to Hunter with an associate’s degree in completing their bachelor’s degree within two years. To meet the goal of completing their degree within two years, students in specific majors must have already completed certain gateway courses before transferring to Hunter College and joining ASAP Hunter. For inquiries about eligible majors and program criteria, please contact ASAP@hunter.cuny.edu.
