John T. Rose currently serves as Dean for Diversity and Compliance at Hunter College of the City University of New York. He has responsibility for developing and implementing the college's Affirmative Action Plan and for ensuring that all employment processes are consistent with equal employment opportunity principles and practices. John is an honor graduate of Hunter College and Harvard Law School. Before his current appointment at Hunter College, John held senior executive and legal positions in the entertainment and sports industries. As the senior Human Resources executive in ABC's New York office, Mr. Rose was responsible for, among other things, employee relations, diversity initiatives and development programs. Prior to that, he served as Vice President, Human Resources at ABC's subsidiary, ESPN. Earlier, Rose held progressively responsible positions at the National Basketball Association, ultimately becoming Senior Vice President, Player Relations and Administration. His responsibilities included coordinating the League's commercial and contractual relationships with current and former players, coaches and talent. Rose launched an important new business department at the NBA, including the League's first Human Resources Department and the first Player Marketing Department. Rose also served as the first General Counsel of the NBA Properties Legal Department. | |

President of Cantarella Consulting, Marcia Cantarella has been an Associate Dean at Hunter College, a Dean at Princeton University and part of the Dean’s staff at New York University’s College of Arts and Science. In these functions she has been responsible for academic advisement, career development, preparation for postgraduate fellowships, development of diversity programs, and strategies to generally enhance students’ academic experience and outcomes. She has drawn on 15 years of corporate experience gained as a Director in Public Affairs and then in Marketing at Avon Products to apply those skills and background to communications challenges, financial and strategic planning in a higher education environment. As Vice-President of Student Affairs at Metropolitan College of NY she was responsible for web development and rebranding of the College as well as admissions and student services. In each of these roles she has also engaged in fundraising and philanthropic activities. Current consulting projects and clients include the Hunter College Black Male Initiative, Kingsborough Community College, The One Club, and Saint Augustine’s College. She has also done work for UNCF and serves on the advisory board for the Eagle Academy Schools. Having a doctorate in American Studies with a focus on American business she has also taught courses relating to working and consuming in America at Princeton, Hunter College and NYU. Dr. Cantarella has over the years served on a great many not-for-profit boards, advisory boards and committees giving her a wide network of contacts across many sectors. She has spoken, written, consulted and done training on leadership, entrepreneurship, work and family issues and diversity issues including at Catalyst, for varied corporations, and at the Stern School of Business at NYU. She has been honored by an array of community organizations including the Harlem YMCA, the Links, Inc., and the Congress of Italian American Organizations. She has been listed in Who’s Who and been published in Vital Speeches. Dr. Cantarella graduated with Honors from Bryn Mawr College and has her Masters and Doctoral degrees from New York University in American Studies. |
