Fulbright Teaching Assistants
The Russian and Slavic Studies Division at Hunter College is proud to have served as a host for Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants for many years. The Fulbright FLTA program enables young educators from Russia to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the cultures and customs of the United States while engaging in non-degree studies at accredited post-secondary U.S. educations institutions.
We are honored to have been repeatedly chosen to host the FLTA Russian assistants. The application process is rigorous and the competition among other academic institutions for the privilege of hosting is stiff. The Fulbright Committee’s selection of the Russian and Slavic Studies Division at Hunter for this prestigious and important position speaks to the high quality of our program.
Our FLTAs serve as part-time instructors in our Russian language classes, as teaching assistants, resource persons in conversations groups, coordinators of extra-cultural activities, and Russia’s cultural representatives. We are very enthusiastic about continuing our participation in the program.
