Hunter Rents Two Theaters to Screen Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures, a 2016 film nominated for three Academy Awards (including Best Picture), tells the inspiring story of the ascent of a group of brilliant African American scientists during the 60’s, young NASA employees who performed ingenious mathematical calculations that transformed our national space program. Oh, and these three “human computers” just so happened to be women.

As part of its commitment to encouraging women and girls to nurture their abilities in math and science and pursue STEM careers, Hunter rented out two theaters near its East 68th Street campus, setting them aside just for students to see this movie…for free. Students who attended saw parallels between their own experiences and those of the characters, and were inspired by the struggles and success of these pioneers from another era. Check out the movie yourself.
