Thomas Finkelpearl (MA '83) and Cynthia López '89 Honored by Hunter College
On September 16, Hunter College alumni Thomas Finkelpearl, New York City commissioner of Cultural Affairs, and Cynthia López, commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, were honored at Hunter's new MFA building at 205 Hudson Street in Tribeca. Hunter President Jennifer J. Raab introduced the honorees, who both reminisced about their time at Hunter.
Finklpearl and López are just two of four Hunter alums who have been appointed this year by Mayor Bill de Blasio to head city agencies. Mitchell Silver '93 and Donna Corrado (Hunter/CUNY Graduate Center DSW '13) were chosen to lead the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Department for the Aging respectively.
