Prof. Sarah Ita Levitan is the co-PI on a 3 year Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) grant titled: "Automatic Detection and Analysis of Extremist Video Content on Social Media using Text, Speech, and Visual Features." The total award amount is $764,199. This is in collaboration with Julia Hirschberg from Columbia University.
Dr. Levitan joins Hunter as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science in September 2020. Her research interests are in spoken language processing, which aims to teach computers to understand human speech.
