In accordance with State Education Law 129-A, section 6431, Hunter College has established the Campus Safety Advisory Committee, or CSAC. This Committee is chaired by the Dean of Diversity and Compliance (John Rose) and the Deputy Director of Diversity and Compliance (Laura Nelson). The committee meets at a minimum, on an annual basis to discuss safety protocol, issues, changes and recommendations. The Committee consists of at least, 10 members including representatives from various departments (including but not limited to Public Safety, Counseling & Wellness, Student Conduct, Provost, Student Affairs, Student Activities, Legal Affairs), faculty members, and students. The Committee reviews matters around physical safety, sexual misconduct, discrimination, applicable policies and available resources. The notes of these meetings, along with recommendations are submitted to the President of Hunter College.
Update: In 2023, a subcommittee of CSAC was implemented, chaired by the Deputy Director of Diversity and Compliance, focused on hate crimes and bias incidents.
