What time does the Center open? What time does it close?

Is the Center open when there are no classes?
No, the Center is not open on days when classes are not in session.
Do I need an appointment to get tutored?
No appointments are necessary for tutoring - only for workshops and problem/review sessions.
Do you offer individualized (1-1) tutoring?
Individualized tutoring is only considered as a supplement of small-group tutoring. Students with accommodation needs, veterans, at-risk students, and students participating in the coaching program are prioritized.
Do you have textbooks?
Yes - the Center has the textbook for your math/stat course as well as supplemental textbooks on topics taught.
Can I bring a study group to the Center?
Absolutely - provided they are doing math/stat tutoring - it is suggested that you sit at the assigned tables.
Can I bring my food in the Center?
No - sorry - there is no food allowed in the Center.
What should I expect upon going to the Center?
You will be asked to sign in at the front desk and identify which service(s) you want to use
Is there someone in the Center b 1can go to if I have a problem in the center?
There is someone on call at all times to respond to any situation (ask for a supervisor at the front desk) - or you can always speak with the Director.
What if I have a question about course policy?
The Dolciain Math Center does not set course policies. You should address all questions to your instructor, course coordinator, or department chair.
Do I need to sign in if I'm not using materials, but just studying?
Yes. Every student needs to sign in - we must report data in all categories.
Wil there always be a computer station available?
Most times, yes, however, there may be a short wait during peak times.
Can I print documents in the Center?
Math course documents can be printed at the Center. The cost for printing is in accordance with College regulations.
Will the Center provide computer assistance?
Yes, but the staff will not formaly teach you the material. The computer assistants will help you with the "computer portion" of your work.
What can I expect from a table tutoring session?
On certain days, the session may be crowded. For the tutor to best serve you, please come prepared with specific questions from your class work or text. Try to work on all homework assignments before asking questions.
If I am absent from class, how can I best use the lab?
- Review a DVD or computer lesson corresponding to the topic missed.
- All course topics are listed on the bulletin
What should I do when I'm finished with my work?
- If using a computer, log out; if using materials, return them to the front desk.
- Sign out at the front desk.
- Fill out the short evaluation of your time spent in the Center EACH time you come in.
