...that there are different skills needed to study math as opposed to other subjects? Do you know where your strengths and weaknesses are in math—not just the content—but in the approach that you use to do mathematics?
Try to answer these questions:
- Do you understand the material during class, but have problems completing the work yourself?
- Do you need help with time management and creating a positive study environment?
- Do you struggle getting all of the notes down in class?
- Do you get nervous when doing math?
- Do you wonder what are the best ways and times to study math?
- Do you freeze while taking tests?
- Do you have trouble trying to remember everything for your class?
If you answered yes to any of them, you should strongly consider attending the study skills workshops offered in the Dolciani Center. The workshops are offered day, evening, onsite and virtual. Register for them on Navigate. Check with your instructor to see if they will give you extra credit for attending.
