Gavin Hollis is an assistant professor at Hunter College CUNY specializing in Shakespeare and Early Modern Drama. He received his PhD in English Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Originally from Great Britain, he also holds degrees from Cambridge University and the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham. His book, The Absence of America: the London Stage 1576-1642 is under contract at Oxford University Press. He has published on Shakespeare and cartography, Encounter narratives in British North America, and the dramatic trope of European males dressing up as Indians.
