Getting started is easy.

1. Login to Hunter’s Student Portal to enroll.
2. Fill in all required fields on the registration form.
   
3. Verify your student status and student (.edu) email address.
   
4. Download the NJ TRANSIT App and buy your Mobile Student Monthly Pass.

After you sign up, the discounted student pass can be purchased directly from the NJ TRANSIT App.  Passes may be purchased from the 19th of the preceding month through the 10th of the month that the pass is valid.

If you are an existing Mobile Student Monthly customer, you need to reactivate your account at the start of each semester. Here’s how:

1. Login to Hunter’s Student Portal to reactivate your account.
2. Login to the NJ TRANSIT App with your student (.edu) email and the password.
   
3. Verify your student status and student email address.
   
4. Buy your Mobile Student Monthly Pass.

   • Student Pass will be shown as a ticket choice within the app.
   • Buy your pass at any time beginning 5pm on the 19th of the previous month, through the 10th day of the month for which the pass is valid.

What is NJ TRANSIT Student Pass?

NJ TRANSIT Student Pass saves full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students an extra 25% on the purchase of a bus, rail or light rail pass using the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App® for the commute to campus. Students must attend a participating college or university. Program details are available at njtransit.com/studentpass.

What are the benefits of Student Pass?

  • Just like a NJ TRANSIT monthly Pass, Student Pass offers the flexibility to use a rail passes on buses and light rail for most trips of equal or lesser value.

  • No more forgotten passes! Simply purchase and display your pass from your mobile device.

Is this program for any undergraduate or graduate student in New Jersey?

No. Colleges and universities must join the Student Pass-University Partnership program and update their website for Student Pass registration before a student can buy a discounted pass using the app. For a list of the participating colleges and universities, visit njtransit.com/studentpass.

Are all students able to buy a Student Pass?

Full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at participating colleges, universities and institutions are eligible.

How do I buy a Student Pass?

All passes are purchased online through the NJ TRANSIT mobile app after registering through the school website.

• First, register through your school website
  • Log onto your school website.
  • Search for “Student Pass” or NJ TRANSIT.
  • Follow the steps on screen to complete registration and verify your student email address.
  • Download the NJ Transit Mobile App and enter your Student Pass login information. (.edu email).
• Purchase your pass when it’s convenient to you
  • Student Pass will be shown as a ticket choice within the app.
  • Buy your pass at any time beginning 5pm on the 19th of the previous month, through the 10th day of the month for which the pass is valid.

How long is the pass valid?

The pass is good for one month as shown.

Do I have to buy a pass every month?

No. You control when to purchase a pass or purchase other NJ TRANSIT tickets. And, charges apply only when you make a purchase.

Do I have to renew my Student Pass account at any time?

At the beginning of each academic period you should renew your student status through your college website.

Do students at non-participating schools receive a student discount?

Students who attend NJ TRANSIT accredited colleges/post-secondary schools where Student Pass is not yet available can obtain a discounted rail monthly pass by going to any NJ TRANSIT ticket window to pick up a paper Application for Student Tickets. The application must be stamped or signed by their school to verify enrollment; then, the completed form can be returned to any NJ TRANSIT ticket office to purchase a monthly rail pass. The discount for students of accredited schools is 25% off rail monthly passes only – not bus or light rail passes.

Students who participate in this program agree that the monthly pass is for their exclusive use only. Each student is eligible to receive one discounted monthly pass per month. Passes are non-transferable. Any abuse or purposeful deception will result in the cancellation of the student’s monthly pass account, and (s)he will be unable to participate in the program in the future. This will also apply to any other student who is knowingly involved.
