AKTINA’s acclaimed concert series, “Greek Music Journey” (GMJ) brings to the Kaye a new and spectacular performance produced by Elena Maroulleti featuring, Thanasis Polykandriotis, the bouzouki legend of Greece who opened the Athens 2004 Olympics Ceremony captivating audiences around the world. Together with his band comprised by the distinguished musicians, Nikos Stratigos, piano, Nikos Kainourgios, guitar/orchestration, Nikos Ntarilas, drums and the charismatic singers Aris Kampanos, who fascinated New Yorkers during AKTINA’s GMJ 2018 last April and Afrotiditi Chatzimina, Mr. Polykandriotis promises an unforgettable performance filled with bouzouki sounds and timeless classic laika (popular folk) hits he has composed over the years which are popular to this day, as well as everlasting Laika and Rembetika (Greek blues) composed by other renowned Greek composers with whom Polykandriotis has collaborated in discography and in live performances as a leading bouzouki soloist among many others the world renowned legends, Manos Hadjidakis (Never on Sunday), Mikis Theodorakis (Zorba the Greek), Vasilis Tsitsanis (Cloudy Sunday). Thanasis Polykandriotis, a world renowned bouzouki soloist and a recipient of many national and international music awards as a musician and composer, has participated and recorded over 90% of the Greek music industry’s Laika and Rembetika music genres. His long and impressive career also includes collaborations and recordings as a Lead Bouzouki Maestro/Soloist in some of the most masterful music works released in Greece by other great Greek composers as well as notable collaborations with international Symphonic Orchestras and Operas. This benefit concert for AKTINA FM and AKTINA TV presented by AKTINA Productions, Inc. The upcoming performance of Thanasis Polykandriotis is a must see by all lovers of Greek music!
