Hunter College Women and Gender Studies presents: Edafe Okporo on "Seeking Asylum in NYC: Supporting LGBTQ+ Refugees."
Edafe Okporo is a refugee, author and activist. He is the Executive director of RDJ Refugee Shelter in Harlem. He will be speaking about the particularities of applying for asylum for LGBTQ+ individuals, the detention of these asylum seekers and he will also be discussing ways in which non-lawyers can support LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in NYC.
