The James Aronson Awards for Social Justice Journalism

HERB BOYD will receive the 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award for Social Justice Journalism and deliver the key note address. The author of 23 books, he is widely known as a respected journalist, historian, writer and activist. His latest book, "Black Detroit: A People's History of Self Determination," garnered rave reviews from major media outlets, including the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Since 1990, the Aronson Awards have honored original, written reporting that exposes widespread injustices, underlying causes, and possible reforms. This includes exposing discrimination based on race, class, gender, religion or sexual orientation; economic exploitation; violations of human rights, civil liberties or free expression; environmental degradation; and brutality to civilians in war.
