About

What is the FDA?

The Faculty Delegate Assembly (FDA) serves to address faculty concerns regarding teaching, research, and the quality of professional life at Hunter and CUNY. We provide a forum for free and open consideration of significant issues at general meetings and plenaries, which are open to all faculty members of the college, and usually include invited speakers from both inside and outside of the college.

The FDA may initiate or be called upon to prepare statements of the views of its constituents for consideration by the policy-making legislative and administrative units of the college or university.

The FDA also hosts a coffee service in the 8th Floor Faculty Lounge at the 68th Street campus, organizes social events each semester, publishes a newsletter, The Faculty Voice, and is responsible for periodic updates of the Faculty Handbook.

Regular responsibilities include:

  • FDA meetings and plenaries
  • Responding to concerns raised by faculty
  • Bridging faculty with administration, PSC-CUNY, University Faculty Senate (USF) and Senate
  • Discussion forum for Senate issues
  • Weekly coffee, tea, and cookie service in 8th floor faculty lounge
  • Booking space in 8th floor lounge & Solarium East Building
  • Hosting socials and gathering faculty together
  • Publication of the Faculty Voice Newsletter

Who is the FDA?

All Hunter faculty, full and part-time, are members of the Faculty Delegate Assembly. Each academic department in the college elects two members to attend plenaries, whose responsibility is to report back to their respective departments. Members also include Administrative Committee of the Hunter College Senate, all Hunter college delegates to the University Faculty Senate, and members of the Executive Committee of the General Faculty.
