Call For Proposals: 2024 Professional Development Conference

Hello,

The Professional Development Conference will be hosted virtually on November 6th and 7th, with this year's theme focusing on "The Change Ahead: Dare to Imagine and Innovate." If you would like an opportunity to present, please submit your conference session proposal by Friday, August 23rd

Please note that to complete the proposal form, you will need to log in with your Office365 username and password (i.e. username: Jane.Doe20@login.cuny.edu, password: your CUNYfirst password). 

This year, all topics should fall into one of the following core tracks and topic suggestions for tracks are included below:

  • Track 1: Transformational Management: Driving Institutional Change
    • Building a culture of innovation
    • Effective change management practices
  • Track 2: Leadership Development: Preparing the Next Generation
    • Mentoring & coaching in academia
    • Success planning
    • Developing leaders in students and staff
  • Track 3: Creating Inclusive Campus Communities: Strategies & Best Practices
    • Promoting diversity in staff and faculty hiring
    • Inclusive curriculum design
  • Track 4: Mindfulness Matters- The Healthy Employee
    • Stress management and resilience
    • Building a culture of openness around mental health
    • Work-life balance
  • Track 5: Automation and Employment: Redefining Roles in Higher Education
    • The impact of AI on academic jobs
    • Creating new opportunities through AI innovation

 

Session Format:

All proposed sessions should be 60 minutes in length. We encourage presenters to select a format which will allow them to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Proposals from individuals are welcome, as well as panel proposals.  

Session Selection Criteria:
The UHR Professional Development & Learning Office will review all proposals in detail to determine which will be selected for the conference. Acceptances will be announced by the week of September 9th.
