CCA Mental Health Awareness Month
Priority: Informational
Hello,
This year's theme for Mental Health Month is Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.
The world is constantly changing - for better or for worse - and it can be overwhelming to deal with everything going on around you. If you're unsure where to start when it comes managing stress, difficult emotions, and challenging situations, building your coping toolbox is a great first step!
Here are 5 things you can do for your #mentalhealth right now:
- Get screened at mhascreening.org - one of the quickest and easiest ways to start working on your mental health.
- Start a conversation about mental health - it doesn't have to be uncomfortable, and it can make all the difference.
- Practice an attitude of gratitude - a bona fide way to stop the cycle of negative thoughts and focus on what you already have.
- Set limits on your news and social media time - checking a few hours a week is a great way to stay informed; checking nonstop can cause feelings of depression and anxiety.
- Leverage the Employee Assistance Program - CCA@YourService offers you and your family free, confidential support and resources to enhance emotional wellbeing and work-life balance.
CCA has offered a toolkit of resources to be circulated through your campus communities.
- Mental Health Support Decision Map helps navigate available resources based on one's needs and circumstances.
- It's Okay to Not Be Okay offers conversation starters for when someone wants to open up about their own struggles or support someone else who may be struggling.
- Protecting our Mental Health from Negative News Coverage offers guidance for managing our news consumption in a more healthy and productive way.
- Mental Health and Self-Care Resource Guide: Given the wealth of mental health and self-care information out there, we've compiled a list of tools and resources from across the web as a helpful starting point.
CCA@YourService will be hosting 3 complimentary webinars throughout May for Mental Health Awareness Month. Please register through the attached flier.
