The size limit for non-image files is 10 MB. This applies to PDFs, Microsoft Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheats, PowerPoint slides, etc.
The size limit for image files is 0.5 MB. This is generally sufficient for all images optimized for the web.
If you need to resize an image that is too large, there are many free web services which will do this for you, such as Picnik.com (please note that Hunter College is not affiliated with Picnik, cannot offer support for their services and does not guarantee their results).
