What photos/images can I use on my website?
You must have the rights to any images you post on your website in the Hunter WebCMS.
If you wish to use photos of students, faculty or staff on your website, each person who is clearly identifiable in a picture must sign a photo release and consent form before their image can be posted on the web. For a copy of this form or if you have any questions about whether an individual is "identifiable", please contact the Communications Office.
If you wish to use graphics or other images you find online, you must have permission from their original creator or purchase the rights to the images before you may use them. There are many stock photography websites on the Internet which will let you purchase graphics at a very low cost.
If a site claims that their images are "free for use", please review the website's terms of use to ensure that you have the right to use their images.
You may use photos in the public domain, but please be sure that they are, in fact, public domain images.
If you wish to display artwork on your website, you must obtain permission from the original artist, as well as from the person who photographed the artwork, before you may use the image on your website.
If you're looking for generic images of the Hunter campus or stock photos of Hunter students, please contact the Communications Office.
