Some Hunter systems have rules about how passwords need to be constructed and how often they need to be changed. This page explains the different rules and how the ICIT Help Desks can assist you if you have questions.
Passwords
Password Rules
- Do not share your password with anyone.
- Do not email your password to anyone asking for it, even if they claim to be from a Help Desk or from the college administration.
- A good, strong password contains both uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols; but does not contain your own name, your username or your date of birth.
- Passwords do not need to be changed periodically (though we recommend changing them every semester).
- Passwords must be at least eight characters long.
- Passwords must contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one symbol.
- Passwords cannot contain your NetID.

- Passwords must be changed every 90 days.
- You cannot use any of the last four passwords.
- Passwords must be at least eight characters long.
- Passwords must contain at least one uppercase letter, and at least one number OR one symbol.
- Passwords must be changed every 45 days.
- You cannot repeat any of the last 12 passwords.
- Passwords must contain at least one number, but cannot start with a number.
- Passwords must be exactly eight characters long.
- Passwords cannot contain symbols—only letters and numbers.
