Welcome to the Literacy Space at Hunter College
What is the Literacy Space?
The Hunter College Literacy Space is a free weekly tutorial after-school program that provides one-to-one instruction in literacy for children who are generally struggling as readers and writers.
Who are the tutors?
Tutors are certified teachers who are enrolled in the Graduate Program in Literacy Education at Hunter College.
Who can attend the Literacy Space?
Children who are enrolled in the Literacy Space attend neighboring public and private schools, and are in grades 1 - 8.
How long does the program last?
Children in elementary school attend the Literacy Space for one academic year. Children in middle school attend the Literacy Space for one semester. The program follows a college schedule (September - December, and February - May).
