Apply to the Program

The MARC program is a learning research community focused on student’s success and professional development. It is an all-year-round research training program designed for undergraduates with majors in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Psychology, or Physics who plan to pursue PhD level training in Behavioral and biomedical research fields. A generous monthly stipend and tuition waiver are available.

Application Deadline: December 15 (the deadline date is updated if extended)

A Complete Application (see link below for application)
The MARC application consists of the application and two Hunter Science Faculty recommendations. A transfer student is to provide a transcript from any previously attended non-CUNY colleges.

Recommendation Letters: The applicant is to inform each recommender of the application deadline date and provide the email address to submit the recommendation. The recommender is to submit the letter directly to: marc@hunter.cuny.edu

What happens to my application after I submit it?
After the application deadline, completed applications are reviewed for consideration and applicants will be selected for an interview with the MARC admissions committee. Applicants accepted usually start soon after.

Eligibility: Candidates for the MARC Program must meet the following criteria

  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Must be a matriculated full-time student majoring in the following Bachelor’s degree programs at Hunter College: (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Psychology, or Physics)
  • Must have completed at least freshman year by the end of the spring semester with entry-level science course(s)
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Must have no previous bachelor’s degree
  • Must have career goals in biomedical, or medically relevant physics or behavioral research
  • Must have a commitment to apply in senior year to a PhD track program in biomedical sciences
  • Students who are solely seeking medical school admissions or other solely clinically-oriented degrees such as D.MD, Pharm D, Psy D. etc. are ineligible
