Emily Springer is the program administrator of the Mellon Public Humanities and Social Justice Scholars Program.

Profile

Emily Springer ‘23 received her BA in Africana, Puerto Rican, and Latino Studies, as well as a certificate in arts management. She is a proud alumna of the Thomas Hunter Honors Program and Mellon Public Humanities and Social Justice Scholars Program. Emily has been selected as a 2025 Marshall Scholar and will be attending Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research interests include jazz, the politics of respectability, Black American popular culture of the 20th century, and Black womanhood. She also is a reporter for WBGO 88.3 FM, a jazz radio station in Newark, NJ and a produce of NPR’s Jazz Night in America.
