Faculty Open Rank - Center for HIV/AIDS Educational Studies and Training (CHEST) (Psychology) in New York, New York

FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Psychology and the Center for HIV/AIDS Educational Studies and Training (CHEST) at HUNTER COLLEGE OF THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (CUNY) invites applications for an Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full) tenure track or tenured position.

The individual(s) hired would be appointed to the faculty in the Department of Psychology, have release time to conduct their research through CHEST, and be involved in the leadership of CHEST. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas related to the candidate’s scholarly and research interests, advising students and supervising graduate and undergraduate student research. An appointment to the CUNY doctoral faculty is possible, and credentials appropriate for that appointment are desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to Master's and doctoral programs in Health Psychology and Clinical Science, and those with strong methodological and statistical backgrounds.

More information about CHEST can be found at http://www.chestnyc.org. More information about the Psychology Department can be found at http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/psychology

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

A strong research program that is compatible with the mission of CHEST is essential (see website - www.chestnyc.org). All candidates must have a doctoral degree and an active program of research that can enlist undergraduate and graduate students. Postdoctoral research experience is a plus. The potential to obtain external funding is strongly preferred for Assistant Professor candidates and active funding is strongly preferred for Associate/Full Professor candidates.

Individuals with research areas that complement and enhance the current research conducted at CHEST are encouraged to apply, and we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in mHealth-based HIV work, neurocognitive aspects of HIV, and RCTs of behavioral interventions. Scholars whose work also cuts across existing departmental content areas (e.g., Neuroscience, Stress, Psychoneuroimmunology, Health Psychology) will be given special consideration.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with experience. CUNY offers a competitive compensation and benefits package to its faculty, covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be submitted on-line by accessing the CUNY Portal on City University of New York job website www.cuny.edu/employment.html and searching for Job Opening ID number listed above. Candidates should submit the following, combined into a single document, with their online application:

  1. Letter of Application
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Research Statement
  4. Statement of Teaching Philosophy (including summaries of teaching evaluations if possible)
  5. 1-2 representative publications
  6. Names, emails and postal addresses for at least three individuals familiar with their research and teaching experience who will be submitting recommendations.

In addition, please have your references email their letters of recommendations directly to the Search Committee via email: CHESTpsych.search@hunter.cuny.edu . Incomplete applications will not be considered.

CLOSING DATE

Open until filled with review of applications to begin November 27, 2017.
