Partha Deb

Hunter College Economics Professor Partha Deb and University of Michigan PhD candidate, former Hunter Economics BA/MA student, Anjelica Gangaram’s groundbreaking study reveals the enduring impact of school shootings on students’ lives.

Published in the Journal of Population Economics, the study underscores the widespread and lasting repercussions of school gun violence, affecting nearly 2,000 men and women annually.

Professor Deb emphasizes that no region remains untouched by these events, emphasizing the significant hidden costs to health and human capital that accumulate with each additional shooting.

This study serves as a poignant reminder of the profound ripple effects of school shootings, prompting a critical examination of their societal impact and the urgent need for preventative measures.
