We’re still the American Dream machine.
Hunter College placed among the Top 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 College Rankings for regional universities in the north: It was third among Top Performers on Social Mobility, tied at sixth among Top Public Schools, fifth as a Best College for Veterans (+3), and seventh in the category of Most Innovative Schools (+9!).
“This year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings provides additional evidence of the strength and importance of public institutions, as the segment of colleges and universities that educates 90% of American undergraduates,” Interim President Ann Kirschner said.
“For Hunter in particular, they are a recognition of our academic and programmatic excellence, and highlight our affordability, emphasis on access, and on our resources for bolstering student success.”
“We congratulate our CUNY colleagues who are also among the top public colleges in the north, including Baruch College (#2), John Jay College of Criminal Justice (#5), Lehman College (tied at #11), Brooklyn College (tied at #14), New York City College of Technology (tied at #14), Medgar Evers College (#15), Queens College (#16), College of Staten Island (tied at #36), and York College (tied at #46),” Dr. Kirschner concluded.
Hunter also was a standout in several other rankings. It placed 21st among 178 colleges and 23rd in the category of Best Undergraduate Teaching among both public and private northern universities.
For its 2024 Best Colleges Rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluates almost 1,500 US baccalaureate-granting institutions, using as many as 19 measures of academic quality.
