Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote to Hunter College President Ann Kirschner, congratulating Hunter for being named one of 46 Hispanic-Serving Institutions demonstrating noteworthy engagement with the Fulbright Program by State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
“Hunter College exemplifies a deep commitment to international exchange and to building lasting connections between the people of the United States and the people of other countries,” Blinken wrote Dr. Kirschner, adding that the honor “is a testament to your institution’s dedication to promoting global engagement and mutual understanding among peoples and nations.”
Fulbright is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational-exchange program. In January, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs named Hunter College a Fulbright Top Producing-Institution for the 2022–2023 academic year — the 14th time in the last 16 years that the college has earned the distinction.
Hunter’s Office of Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships has a stellar track record in preparing students for many different kinds of competitive scholarships and fellowships, including Fulbrights. In recent years, the college has produced two Rhodes, two Marshall, five Schwarzman, five Luce, four Goldwater, and 36 Fulbright Scholars, among many other prestigious awardees.
