Hunter College has named five professionals to leadership posts in recent months, President Ann Kirschner announced:

  • Jessica Alvarez was promoted to interim general counsel
  • Michelle Blackman, Esq., was promoted to interim assistant vice president of Human Resources
  • Maria Camaj was named chief of staff and director of operations
  • Robert Domanski is the new interim dean of academic innovation and outcomes
  • Alexis Eggleton was appointed interim vice president of institutional advancement and executive director of the Hunter College Foundation

“Hunter has always attracted the best and the brightest to its staff, and these five individuals are no exception,” Kirschner said. “Each will advance an important area of focus and growth for Hunter College. Please join us in extending a warm welcome.”

Alvarez joined Hunter’s legal staff in 2015. As the in-house legal counsel, she provides advice and counsel to the president and administrators on matters including governance, labor relations, litigation, students’ rights, and faculty tenure and promotion.

Blackman, who has worked at Hunter since 2013, last served as the director of employee relations and legal counsel to Human Resources. She earlier worked as a labor lawyer at New York City Transit and the NYPD. She started her legal career as an assistant district attorney in Queens.

Camaj comes to Hunter from Lehman College, where she was associate director for special projects and academic operations for the Office of the Provost and provided project management and strategic support for executive and administrative duties.

Domanski was most recently the director of higher education for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development. As part of Mayor Adams’s “Tech Talent Pipeline” industry partnership, Domanski oversaw the CUNY 2x Tech initiative – a $30 million dollar investment in CUNY that has doubled internship rates and nearly doubled full-time employment rates at its partner colleges.

Eggleton returned to Hunter from Girl Scouts of Greater New York, where she served as vice president of advancement and managed an $11 million capital campaign. During the tenure of President Jennifer J. Raab, Eggleton worked as a development officer in the President’s Office, managing donor strategy and board relations.
