Andrea Meija, a Hunter College senior and second-year scholar in the McNulty Scholars Program has recently been accepted to the University of Connecticut PhD program in physics. Andrea is majoring in physics at Hunter and is pursuing a career in theoretical and computational astrophysics. At UConn, she will be working with Professor Chiara Mingarelli on modeling gas accretion on black hole binaries in accretion disks. The work will be joint with the Flatiron Institute, Center for Computational Astrophysics in New York City, and will start in summer 2021.
