Yolima Vergara, DNP, RN, AGPCNP-BC

Dr. Yolima Vergara is a clinical professor at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College of The City University of New York (CUNY). As an ANCC board-certified Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Vergara has been practicing for over 13 years in the Cardiology Division of the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor, with nine years as a DNP. She joins the HBSON faculty with over 20 years of experience in critical care, proficient in all aspects of critical care patient management and, as an NP, in caring for patients with cardiac and chronic health conditions.

In addition to Dr. Vergara's extensive clinical experience, she is also a skilled educator, having taught at Hunter College, Saint Joseph College of Nursing, and Long Island University School of Nursing, where she last served as a graduate program director. There, she helped implement changes in the curriculum including innovative, game-based learning to increase student engagement and improve board certification exam pass rates. She is also an alumna of Hunter's DNP and advanced certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner programs.
