Peter Englot brings a wealth of experience to his role. He comes from Rutgers University–Newark, where he was senior vice chancellor for public affairs and chief of staff for the chancellor.
Englot led Rutgers’s many communications and community efforts in Newark and supported the leadership team across their divisions. He promulgated the university’s identity as an anchor institution and beacon of educational opportunity in Newark.
Earlier, Englot served for seven years as associate vice president for public affairs at Syracuse University, providing strategy on internal and external communications articulating the university’s mission. Before that he held a variety of administrative positions in academia.
A native of Queens and a product of New York City Public Schools, Englot holds two degrees in Linguistics: a master’s from Syracuse and a bachelor’s from Binghamton University.
He is the co-author with Hunter College President Nancy Cantor of journal articles and book chapters on the public mission of American universities.
