U.S. Navy submarine veteran and former FBI employee, Joseph D. Foelsch, Jr., director of the Office of Public Safety, is dedicated to providing excellence in protection and service to the Hunter College community.

Profile

As Director of Public Safety at Hunter College, Joseph “Joe” Foelsch is dedicated to providing excellence in protection and service to the Hunter College community and endeavors to ensure a safe and secure environment conducive to a positive social and educational process. He oversees fire safety, access control, fleet operations, CCTV and the general safety of faculty, staff, students and visitors on the campus. He is continuously inspired by the students studying at Hunter College and their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Joe’s prior experience in teaching at a high school provides him with a unique perspective of learning environments which he carries through his position at Hunter College. His 23 years working in the FBI and training as a U.S. Navy submarine veteran have given him a strong background in public safety, protection and a solid base to successfully interact with the entire Hunter community.

Joe holds a BS in Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology and an MS in National Resource Strategy from the National Defense University/Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
