Welcome to Hunter! I am Leora Shudofsky, LMSW and I am the Director and Educational Coordinator for PROVE.

PROVE (Project for Return and Opportunity in Veterans' Education), founded in 2007, serves student veterans on 8 CUNY campuses, including Hunter College. Our team (which includes two graduate student social work interns) works with existing campus veteran services to support student veterans, including providing resources, in their transition from military to college life.

I joined PROVE in 2008 and have been working with Hunter College student veterans ever since. I have also served as the Faculty Advisor for the Hunter College Student Veteran’s Club since 2010.

I went to Queens College for my undergraduate degree, and received a master’s degree in Social Work in 1990 from the Hunter College School of Social Work (now Silberman), so I am CUNY through and through. I have been an adjunct professor since 1999, and currently teach the only course at Silberman School of Social Work that focuses on serving Veterans. Working with veterans has become a true passion for me. I plan to continue working with PROVE, while also training up the next generation of social workers who will work with veterans and their families.
