Scott Gentile

Lecturer

Scott Gentile is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in charge of coordinating all sections of the department's general education mathematics courses.

PROFILE

Scott Gentile is a mathematics gateway lecturer focused on teaching and improving success in 100-level mathematics courses. He also serves as president of the Nu Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society at Hunter College.

He joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in 2010, and is in charge of coordinating all sections of the department's general education mathematics courses as well as the annual assessment of all mathematics and statistics programs. Recently, Scott developed the first 3- and 4-credit hybrid (half-online) and fully online mathematics courses which he continues to oversee.

Scott's past roles include regional coordinator for the Woodrow Wilson Foundation / CalPASS (California Partnership for Achieving Student Success), where he was in charge of developing programs to improve the success of early college students in NYC, overseeing multiple area professional learning councils (PLC’s) consisting of high school and college STEM faculty.

Before joining the Hunter faculty, Scott was an instructor in the Mathematics Department of the City College of San Francisco, as well as a teaching assistant and adjunct lecturer at Boston College.
