Shacon Jones II is an artist-scholar-activist and adjunct lecturer in the Women and Gender Studies Department at Hunter College. His research interests lie mainly in Black studies, masculinities and sexuality, dance studies, pleasure activism, and technologies of remembrance. He holds an MA in Education from Stanford Graduate School of Education, an MFA in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University, and a BA in English and Drama & Dance from Morehouse College. Currently, he is completing a PhD in Performance Studies at Stanford University and serves as a Mellon Foundation Teaching Race Fellow. Outside of research and teaching, Shacon is a proud member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society, a seasoned arts administrator, an intimacy consultant/coach, and a foster youth advocate.
