Dr. Kofsky is a certified Mulligan Practitioner and a board-certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. He is also one of approximately 400 physical therapists worldwide who holds certification in Functional Manual Therapy, which involves passing 7 written and 7 practical exams over 2 days.
Dr. Kofsky has practiced outpatient musculoskeletal physical therapy since 2002, mentored 40 physical therapy students on clinical experiences, and mentored 4 orthopedic physical therapy residents. He worked for a year in New Delhi, India mentoring physical therapists in Functional Manual Therapy, and taught continuing professional education with the Institute of Physical Art. Dr. Kofsky has also served as an adjunct in the PT programs at LIU and Touro College.
As the Assistant Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physical Therapy at Hunter College, Dr. Kofsky works with students on identifying areas of interest for clinical placements, managing logistics of clinical placements, and meeting students and clinical instructors for site visits during clinical experiences. He has also developed and actively leads the current musculoskeletal curriculum within the department. In these roles, he finds inspiration from his students' optimism and motivation to serve their communities and the physical therapy profession.
Dr. Kofsky's main areas of interest include musculoskeletal physical therapy practice, efficient movement, and helping students develop into competent clinicians who emphasize specificity and excellence.
