Dear Friends,

Yesterday was an incredible day, as I was officially sworn in as a member of the New York State Senate by Janet DiFiore, Chief Judge of the New York State Court of Appeals. 

Minutes later, I was proud to cast my vote to elect Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins as the Senate Majority Leader, making her the first woman and first woman of color to lead a legislative body in New York history. 

I am so honored to serve as a member of this body and I pledge to fully represent our communities to the utmost of my ability. I cannot begin to thank you all enough for giving me this privileged responsibility and I can't wait to get to work. 

Don't forget to join me for my community inauguration ceremony on Sunday, January 27th, 3pm, at Fort Hamilton High School, located at 8301 Shore Road in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Doors open at 2:30 and a reception will follow.
