She will give an admissions presentation that will cover topics such as; the veterinary school admissions process, being a competitive applicant and personal statement. Title: Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) Application Workshop
Description: The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) formerly known as SMDEP is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students interested in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools. This workshop will include:
- Information about the benefits of SHPEP
- Meet past SHPEP participants
- A walk-through of the application process.
Title: Immigration and Health Workshop with Dr. Aragones
Description: Pre-Health Organization presents Immigration Workshop with Dr. Aragones from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Join us in an engaging conversation with Dr. Aragones whose areas of expertise include working with primary care provider to address barriers for cancer screening and prevention among minority and immigrant populations, specifically among the Latino population. Dr. Aragones is currently working in the areas of HPV vaccine practices among providers serving large minority populations; developing an intervention to promote the utilization of the HPV vaccine among children of Latino immigrants; and investigating a new model to disseminate and implement evidence-based practices to community physicians serving large Latino populations.

• Practice specialized care in sports medicine, diabetic wound care and limb salvage, biomechanical evaluation, traumatic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric foot abnormalities, geriatric patient care, podiatric dermatology, and orthoses and prosthetics.

Title: How to Prepare and Apply to Occupational Therapy Programs
Description: The workshop will discuss all aspects of preparing for and applying to OT programs. This workshop is required for all Pre-Health students who plan to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.
Title: How to Prepare and Apply to Optometry School
Description: If you are interested in becoming a Doctor of Optometry then this workshop is a must! We will cover everything you need to know in order to be a strong applicant to Doctor of Optometry programs.
The workshop will discuss all aspects of preparing for and applying to Optometry Schools---there are 20 programs in total---including pre-requisite coursework in science and math, and the necessary types of clinical, volunteer service, and extracurricular experiences. We will also discuss the importance of your GPA and OAT score as well as getting strong course evaluations and letters of recommendations.
The workshop will also provide an Application Timeline and review how to navigate the OptomCAS application site.
It is highly recommended that a Committee Letter accompany your application to Optometry School.
This workshop is required for all Pre-Health students who are considering a professional career in optometry.
