Title: Physical Therapist Talk- Dr. Jason Roth
Description: Pre Health Organization presents Physical Therapy Speaker Session with Jason Roth. Dr. Roth is a physical therapist, practicing for 16 years. He is the co-owner and director of Evolve Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation, which is a private practice on the Upper East Side. He is a Board Certified Sports Specialist and a certified personal trainer. Dr. Roth is also the sports medicine advisor on the board of the Syosset Baseball Association, and participated in the United Stayed Olympic Committee sports medicine volunteer program. He is a great person for people interested in sports medicine to meet. He is also a Master Clinician for NYU’s physical therapy doctorate program.

Title: Bioethics Talk with New York Times bestselling author Dr. Matthew McCarthy
Description: Dr. Matthew McCarthy, a hospitalist at Weill Cornell Medicine, will give us a talk on the ethical challenges physicians have when dealing with superbugs, drug-resistant bacteria/fungi. Dr. McCarthy has written an op-ed for the New York Times on the topic and has been quoted as well in another New York Times article. Come join us as we seek to answer the ethical question of "Should hospitals report superbugs to the public?"
Matt McCarthy is a graduate of Yale and of Harvard Medical School and a New York Times bestselling author. His new book Superbugs explores the history of bacteria and antibiotics, from Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin, to obscure sources of innovative new medicines (often found in soil samples), to the cutting-edge DNA manipulation known as CRISPR, bringing to light how we arrived at this juncture of both incredible breakthrough and extreme vulnerability.

Title: Dissecting the AMCAS application of A Successful Applicant: Packaging yourself for success
Description: This presentation will cover the anatomy of an AMCAS application. You will receive insights on the application process from a successful 2018-2019applicant to medical school who has been accepted to seven medical schools which include, Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, Renaissance SOM at Stony Brook University, UMass and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Title: University of Rochester School of Medicine Early Assurance Program Application Workshop
Description: This workshop will assist students who are interested in applying to the University of Rochester School of Medicine’s Early Assurance Program (Rochester EAP).
Academically qualified sophomore undergraduates may apply to the Rochester EAP in May and June following the completion of their sophomore year and will not be required to take the MCAT exam.
The workshop will feature two Hunter students who were accepted to Rochester’s EAP. They will speak about the application and interview process and be available to answer your questions.
The workshop will review the basics of the EAP program and the application and essay prompts with specific emphasis on how to write effective essays and obtain strong letters of recommendation for this program.
Rochester School of Medicine is currently ranked 12th in the nation and looks for students who are interested in diversifying their undergraduate education in order to bring new perspectives and insights to their future careers as physicians.

Title: Trauma Management and Point of Injury Care
Description: We will discuss the main causes of death in emergency care and learn how to manage the three preventable causes of death; which are hemorrhaging, airway compromise, and tension pneumothorax. In addition, we will go over the different phases of initial care from point of injury through medical evacuation. We will have demonstrations of some medical equipment and hands on skills.
Title: Paying for Dental School and Personal Statement Workshop
Description: We will be holding our monthly meeting to discuss upcoming events, our monthly volunteer activity and to hear out any suggestions or opinions for the PDS. We will be discussing various opportunities to help pay for your dental school journey, as well as discuss various Person Statement ideas. Two successful applicants will be attending the meeting and will also be there for a Q&A.
