Title: Pre-Health Group Advising for Transfer Students
Description: The Pre-Health Advising Office will hold a group advising session for transfer students. This session will cover the requirements for a Pre-Health file, Committee Letter and address any other questions or concerns you may have. Many successful Pre-Health students begin their careers at community or other colleges and universities. We strongly encourage you to get involved in the Hunter College Pre-Health community.

Title: SUNY Downstate Exploring Health Careers Summer Program Information Session
Description: Join us for an information session about the SUNY Downstate Exploring Health Careers Summer Program.
It is a 6-week program designed to expose eligible full-time college students to the health professions through faculty presentations, shadowing opportunities in clinics and affiliate sites, and guidance for navigating the application process. Presentations vary annually but can include the history of medicine, scientific research methods, bioethics, intro to kinesiology, interview strategy, and more.
Eligibility:
• Freshmen, Sophomores, or Juniors
• Educationally or Financially Disadvantaged students/Underrepresented
• 2.5 GPA minimum
• Currently registered Full-time

Title: How to Get an A in General Chemistry
Description: Join AMSA as we go over key tips in obtaining A's in General Chemistry.
The discussion will be held by one General Chemistry Peer Teacher's Assistant who obtained A's in both General Chemistry 1 and 2.
This meeting will be especially helpful to students who are currently taking General Chemistry 1/ 2 or who plan to take the course in the near future
Title: Health Policy Speaker Series with Max Halder
Description: Pre-Health Organization presents Health Policy Speaker Series with Max Halder. Max Hadler is the Director of Health Policy at the New York Immigration Coalition. He works on a range of issues and campaigns at the city and state levels to improve health access, coverage, and delivery for immigrant communities. Prior to joining the NYIC team, he worked in many capacities related to access to care for immigrants, including project director and research associate at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, researcher at the UCLA North American Integration and Development Center, and Spanish-English medical interpreter at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He has also taught at Hunter College's School of Urban Public Health. Max received an MPH from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and an MA in Latin American Studies from the UCLA International Institute. He holds a BA from Wesleyan University.
Refreshments will be served.

Title: The Essentials for Writing A Strong Medical School Personal Statement
Description: Allison Smith, Director of Admissions at Weill Cornell Medical College will host a personal statement workshop.
Topics include:
Introduction & Overview-What is a personal statement? Why is it important? How are personal statements evaluated within an admissions packet?
Get started on analyzing the connections between your experiences & the intellectual or social values of where you are applying; drafting strategies; questions to ask yourself
Qualities of an Effective Personal Statement-Key consideration for statements: Things to Do & Things to Avoid
This workshop is required for those planning to apply in the upcoming 2019-2020 application cycle.
