Title: Interviewing 101 for Pre-Health Students
Description: Learn the skills you will need to perform well in interviews for clinical volunteering experiences, research assistant positions, medical assistant positions and others.
We will cover how to make the best of your interview from communication skills---both verbal and nonverbal---to how to dress for your interview---to how to write a thank you note/email after the interview [sample will be provided]
We will also be reviewing frequently asked interview questions. You will be practicing how to answer these questions during the workshop.
Proper interview etiquette will also be covered.
This workshop is highly recommended for freshman and sophomores.
Title: Community Service Volunteering for Pre-Health Students
Description: Zoe Smolen, the Let's Get Ready College Senior Access Program Manager will discuss the importance of community service and will be recruiting volunteers for the program. Let's Get Ready is an educational non-profit offering SAT preparation and application counseling to high school students from underrepresented backgrounds. Volunteers will be trained to serve as tutors and mentors.
This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students.
Title: NYC HEALTH + HOSPITALS Research Internship Information Session
Description: NYC H + H Research Administration is looking for responsible and committed undergraduate and graduate research interns to assist with research studies examining our interventions and programs. Research interns will gain experience in the ethical conduct of research with human subjects, participant recruitment, study design, and data collection and entry, and regulatory compliance. Interns will gain familiarity with the research process, research administration, regulatory requirements, current understanding of medical and psychological disorders, the diagnostic process, and related treatments depending upon placement.
This position is ideal for students who are considering a graduate degree in the medical profession.
Competitive Applicants Will:
+ Be able to commit to at least a 9-month internship position if selected
+ Be self-motivated, and reliable
+ Have at least a 3.0 GPA
+ Be an undergraduate student enrolled in a health sciences/pre-med, or psychology major
+ Graduate students in any related major may apply
Title: Stem Study Skills for Pre-Health Students
Description: How many times have you said, “I studied so hard for that test!” Please join us if you want to learn how to turn your hard work into stellar grades. Learn to study “creatively” for your STEM classes from a panel of high performing Hunter STEM students who will give you their strategies to earn top grades. Learn how to turn your memorized “facts” into the basis of your critical thinking strategies that lead to a better understanding of the material and how to fully form complete answers to exam questions. This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students.

Title: Pre-Health Group Advising
Description: Hunter Pre-Health advisers will hold a group advising sessions for students with Pre-Health questions. This session will be held in a classroom setting and will allow students to collectively ask questions of the Pre-Health advising team and to learn from their Pre-Health peers. All are welcome, especially first-year students!
